What's going on at Michael F. Simon Builders?

Michael F Simon Builders - Quality Defined!

Two years ago, we changed our logo to the Lion's head. We have changed and adapted quite a few times over the past century. Looking back, I remember when we changed to the bullseye logo. Actually it wasn't really a bullseye at all, but rather a sun. Back in the 1980's, "Passive Solar" took off. That's when we started building energy efficient homes and since then, all of our new homes have been certified. The sun logo represented our commitment to building energy efficient homes that people would be proud to call home. The sign to the right is still hanging in our woodworking shop today to remind us to always change and adapt.

Keeping our traditions in mind, when we updated our image, we chose a lion's head as our logo and the door knocker instantly fit. If you see our vehicles around town, you'll see the lion's head and know without even reading our name, that we are the industry leader with over 118 years of pride. We have pride in everything we build just like our clients take pride in their home. We have also changed our motto to "Quality Defined" as we have been, and continue to set the bar for quality construction.

We thank you for reading our newsletter!

Best regards,

Phil Simon

Past Project: Lower Level Finish and All Bathrooms

Back in July's Newsletter, we featured a kitchen refresh and mentioned that we were just starting work on the rest of the home. Well that additional work is now finished and we would love to show you how it turned out.

This round of remodeling included finishing the lower level and refreshing two bathrooms in the home. In the bathrooms, we removed and replaced the cabinets, countertops, flooring, fixtures, mirrors and lighting fixtures. We also added a heat pad under the tile floors.

This way the owner can step out of the shower onto a warm tile floor! We used the same cabinets and countertops as the kitchen to keep consistency throughout the home.

The lower level finish consisted of roughly 1,000 square feet, and has a recreation room, bathroom, and an additional bedroom. Finishing the lower level to include another bedroom and bathroom is a great way to add value to any home. Again, we used the same cabinets and countertops as the rest of the home for a uniform look and feel throughout the home.

While our carpenters were there, they replaced the door hardware in the parts of the home that we didn't remodel so that everything was updated and matched. We are proud of the design and couldn't be happier with the selections that the owner and interior designer (Laurie Lodholz) made! This home looks absolutely stunning after the two different remodeling phases we have completed.

Ask The Builder

Question:

Terry,

Good morning. Troy and I were hoping you could recommend the best way to clean the exterior EIFS of our home. We have green stains on portions of the house that we would like to remove.

We were considering renting a power washer but were not sure if that might cause damage to the paint. Also, the woodpeckers have been at it again.

Is it best that we contact Dave directly or is that something better left for Michael F. Simon Builders? When you have time, we would appreciate any thoughts you might have.

Regards.

Helen

Answer:

Good Morning Helen,

It's good to hear from you. Here is a formula you can use as a cleaner. It makes one gallon and can be brushed or sprayed on the area. Let it stand for a few minutes and hose it off.

1/2 cup Borax, 1 quart bleach, 3 quarts warm water, 1 ounce liquid detergent.

You can also contact Dave Prochaska of Stucco America. He will do the washing and any other EIFS or Stucco work and does a great job! We highly recommend him! Dave's number is 608-850-7840
