Past Project: Bar Overhaul
We are very excited to share this month’s featured project with you. Michael F Simon teamed up with Laurie Driscoll Interiors, Inc to remove an existing bar and create a truly spectacular work of art. Laurie worked with the homeowner to design an inviting area for our clients and their guests to relax and visit.
We started by removing the existing carpeting and pad in the room, along with the existing fireplace, bar and trim. Our carpenters framed the new fireplace surround and prepared the long wall for the new bookshelves. Meanwhile, Kurt from Distinctive Wood Creations, was busy building the custom bookshelves along with the new, custom bar. A new Heat-N-Glo fireplace was chosen as it featured a modern look with blue LED’s, porcelain crystals, and a black granite surround. Once the fireplace was installed, the new stainless steel mantel was templated and installed. It is truly impressive, made from one single piece of stainless steel that continues into the bookshelves.
The bookcases were custom designed and built in order to accommodate the owner’s audio and video components for the lower level of the home. We incorporated small LED strip lights into a few of the shelves to help feature the items on the shelf below.
The focal point on the remodeled lower level is the new custom bar. We built the bar with very high quality components including a stainless steel Subzero mini fridge. The new cabinets feature a beautiful Cambria countertop with a 3/4″ thick, clear glass counter top with hand polished edges and stainless steel stand offs. A stainless steel under mount sink is surrounded by a mosaic tile backsplash. Roll your mouse over a picture below to see the “Before” picture. To complement the custom bookcase, we installed floating shelves above the bar in an “L” shape. We also gave them a cherry detail that matched the columns on the main floor of the house. This was done to make the bar look as if it was a part of the original house plan.
Groundbreaking- The Community of Bishops Bay
In July, we announced that Simon Builder’s sealed the deal and will be building “The Villas” at the Community of Bishops Bay. The development is underway and the infrastructure for the first phase has been finished. We have named our private drive Callaway Court. We are excited to start building “The Villas” in 2013! Set on 3.8 acres, the Villas offer single family lots with 180 degree golf course views of the 5th fairway with very few neighbors. Villa owners will enjoy the advantages of privately owned homes, along with the benefits of an exclusive homeowner’s association. Having no yard maintenance or snow removal will free up your time so you can enjoy all of the amenities of the Community of Bishops Bay, “Where the Good Life Grows.” The Villas will be starting at $700,000 including the lot. We are now accepting applications (with a refundable deposit) to appoint Priority Numbers for building on this year’s or next year’s phase.
