What’s going on at Michael F. Simon Builders?

Happy Holidays!
We’re extremely busy wrapping up a few projects before the snow flies. We currently have a few new homes being built, and a handful of fantastic remodeling projects to take us into the holiday season and 2013. We’ve been blessed to have such great clients, which in turn makes these projects fun and exciting for both our clients and our carpenters. We ask that if you know anyone thinking of building or remodeling, that you give them our name. We’ll appreciate it almost as much as they will!
Thank you for taking time to read our newsletter and for thinking of the Michael F. Simon Builders Team in your future building or remodeling plans.

Past Project: Staircase Overhaul

This month’s featured project is a fantastic Staircase Refresh. If you read ourĀ August 2012 newsletter, you will remember we left a cliffhanger at the end of the Featured Remodel project. We included pictures and descriptions of the Foyer, Bathroom, and second floor refresh but did not share any details of the biggest change, the Staircase. Now, the first thing a visitor see’s when entering the home, is the beautiful decorative glass staircase. This has become the focal point of the home and turned out absolutely stunning.

Backwhen this home was built, the staircase was built to the local building code requirements. Since we were doing any new work to the staircase, it was required to be brought up to today’s standards. The balusters were spaced too far apart, the handrail was not a continuous unit and the top rail on the 90 degree corner of the landing was at two different heights. To comply, the staircase was completely rebuilt to meet current codes as well as incorporate the glass panels as the new baluster section of the staircase.
We teamed up with Linda at Studio Glassworks for the custom glass panels which feature a swirl design that flows through the entire staircase. We are very proud and happy with how this project has turned out. It is truly a testament to the wonderful customers and suppliers we have been fortunate to work with over this past year.

Contractor of the Year Award!

Speaking of wonderful customers and suppliers, Simon Builders recently won multiple Contractor Of the Year (COTY) awards put on by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). Simon Builders entered projects from 2012 into four categories and received three awards. First place awards include our project entered into the “Residential Addition under $1 00,000” category as well as in the “Commercial Exterior” category. We also won an Honorable Mention award in the “Residential Bath $15,000 to $30,000” category!
