Name The Lion Contest

LionsHappy New Year!
The previous year marked Michael F Simon Builder’s 120th birthday. To help celebrate, a majestic marble lion has taken a place of honor in front of our office. We would like to introduce Nomis the Lion. Nomis is Simon spelled backwards, and Simon Builders has you covered either way! A special thank you goes out to Brett Hackbart for the winning suggestion.
The last 120 years have been an interesting rollercoaster including “The Great Depression” and “The Great Recession” – but they have taught us a lot. We are very thankful for our clients and employees who have made our projects successful and look forward to many more wonderful successful years and happy clients!

Featured Project: Master Shower Refresh

This month’s featured project is a master bathroom, and shower refresh. While there was not anything wrong with the existing master shower, it also wasn’t anything spectacular. The owners wanted to replace the existing shower module and sliding door with a new tiled shower with a nicer glass door. We went to work removing the old parts and even enlarged the shower two feet further into the bathroom. The drywalled soffit above the shower was also enlarged so it matched the depth of the shower.

A beautiful new tile was chosen along with a decorative glass tile to be used as an accent. Typically we include a recessed shampoo and soap shelf but this shower is on two exterior walls so the recessed shelf would take away from the insulation in the wall. Instead, a corner shelf was used to compliment the corner bench. A new heavy glass door was installed with a shower guard coating to help cut down on spotting and keep any build up from forming.

We also replaced the existing bath fan with a model that can handle moving more air. This will help reduce moisture problems often found in bathrooms. While we were working in the home, the owners had us work on a few other things including a ceiling fan and hose bib. It is very easy for our carpenters to take care of a “Honey-Do List” that most families have but do not have time for. Because of the number of repeat customers we have, we strive to make each and every project fun and enjoyable, both for our employees and our clients.
