Featured Project: Lower Level Finish.
Today, we will be looking at a recently completed remodel project where we finished off the lower level of a home. When they built the home, the owners left the lower level unfinished, knowing that one day they would complete it.
While walking through the client’s home, we discussed and put together a plan to turn this space into a warm, relaxing area perfect for the family, with an emphasis on entertainment. Our client had a few ideas in mind, including an entertainment center, roughly based on one of our picture books. This new space needed to incorporate a recreation room with the entertainment center, a spacious storage area with plenty of shelving, a wet bar, a full bathroom, and a brand new staircase with metal balusters and curved handrails. Oh, and they wanted it to make a statement and have a “wow factor”!
Portions of the lower level were already framed in, including structural beams and posts, a stairwell, and some walls along the foundation, but there was still a lot of work to be done . Half-walls were built up to the windows to let natural light in to brighten the lower level. After all of the new interior walls were built, we installed sound deadening insulation to keep the noise levels to a minimum.
In the wet bar, we installed Showplace brand cabinets using a Lyptus wood with a stain and glaze finish for an absolutely stunning cabinet! Beautiful granite countertops were installed above the dishwasher and microwave, giving this bar everything needed to make it easy to entertain an entire group during that big game. The lighting system allows for a bright, usable space with the option to dim each area independently of the others, creating an intimate setting, perfect for movie nights.
The entertainment center is a massive sixteen feet wide custom piece that definitely catches the eye. It houses one of the many televisions throughout the lower level. No matter which area you are relaxing in, you will never miss a beat.
In the bathroom, an elegant ceramic tile shower with a heavy glass door, and multiple shower heads were installed. A furniture style vanity cabinet, with matching framed mirror, was selected along with a stunning granite counter top, to create a rich, warm area.
Our entire team enjoyed this project from the beginning conceptual drawings, through the construction. The homeowners had an exceptional eye for detail and high expectations for the end result.
