July – Waunakee Food Pantry
Michael F. Simon Builders is celebrating 125 years in business with a yearlong celebration giving back to the community in a different way each month. This month, our efforts will be for the Waunakee Food Pantry (which is celebrating its 30th Anniversary). We have had a long history of service to the Food Pantry since it started by volunteering to build the shelves when it opened in St John’s school. When it outgrew that location, we once again volunteered by purchasing and setting up their new location in the lower level of the Church on Woodland Drive.
We would like to thank our employees, Trade Partners, clients, and family & friends for their help to make our July Food Pantry service project an overwhelming success!
We are delighted to announce that in total we collected, sorted, and stocked shelves with 1,500 pounds of food and personal care items! That is a record collection by an individual organization! This can be thought of as feeding 4,500 people!!! Only the Boy Scouts and the Postal Carriers Annual Food Drives have collected more food.
We had challenged the following Trade Partners to see who could collect the most food and personal care items. We are very pleased to provide the results of the challenge.
Hellenbrand Glass collected and shared 19.3 pounds of food
Rockweiler Insulation collected and shared 38.6 pounds of food
Hottmann Construction collected and shared exactly 60 pounds of food
Furniture & ApplianceMart collected and shared 108.3 pounds of food
United Brick & Block collected and shared 108.7 pounds of food
Dave Jones Inc collected and shared 266.5 pounds of food
Simon Builders collected and shared 810 pounds of food
We would like to acknowledge a very generous cash donation of $500 from clients that was presented to the Food Pantry for their use as needed along with our company’s donation of $3,000 to be used to pay the rent for the remainder of this year. It has been our honor to be able to help the Food Pantry from it’s very beginning back in 1978 to providing our donations and service today. We are grateful to have the support and help of so many in the community that allows this great work to be done. It is through the hands of many that incredible things can be accomplished.
